We supply the REVOX SPX series of LED line lights to manufacturers, system integrators, universities, and research institutions across the United States. Orders are shipped either direct from REVOX in Kanagawa, Japan, or through our Torrance, California office, and we confirm the shipping route and lead time with every quote.
These are complete illumination systems, not bare components. A line light is ordered together with its dedicated power supply and cable, and the light-emitting length, light distribution, and LED color are specified at the time of order. If you need bare emitters to build your own illuminator, see our COB LED emitters and SMD LED emitters.
The SPX line light lineup
| Model | Position in the series | LED colors | Control |
|---|---|---|---|
| SPX-TA200 | Flagship high-performance model for line-scan cameras, with light-emitting lengths from 240 to 3,960 mm | White, red, green, blue, UV 365 / 385 / 405 nm, NIR 860 / 950 nm | LAN dimming, external pulse input, 5-point linearity correction over 16-bit resolution |
| SPX-TB-80 | High-uniformity model with a wide dimming range | White, red, green, blue, amber | Pulse control, high-speed dimming, 8-bit / 10-bit / 12-bit digital dimming |
| SPX-TB-07 / TB-30 / TB-70 | Three smaller members of the SPX-TB family for installations with limited mounting space | White, red, green, blue, amber | 8-bit and 10-bit digital dimming |
| SPX-N80 | Cost-performance model for general inspection lines | White, red, green, blue, amber | Constant-illuminance control, 8-bit digital dimming |
| SPX-iT | Patented optical design aimed at fluorescent-lamp-class uniformity at a higher brightness | White | Constant-illuminance control |
| SPX-SLIM2 | Slim housing intended as a direct replacement for fluorescent tube lighting | White, red, green, blue | Constant-illuminance control |
Detailed specifications for each model are confirmed at the time of quotation, because the housing length, light distribution, and color are all build-to-order. Custom light source configurations are also available on request.
How to choose a line light
Start from the light-emitting length, not the product name. The illuminated band has to cover the full web or part width that the line-scan camera sees, with margin at both ends. On the SPX-TA200 the length is specified in 120 mm increments from 240 mm to 3,960 mm, and the usable (effective) length is shorter than the nominal length, so confirm the figure against your field of view before fixing the mechanical design.
Match the light distribution to the working distance. A diffuse configuration without focusing optics gives the broadest, most forgiving band and is the right default for close working distances. A focused configuration concentrates the output at a defined working distance for higher irradiance, and a quasi-collimated configuration is used where the beam has to stay narrow over a longer throw. Changing distribution changes the irradiance at the sample by a large factor, so decide this together with the camera exposure time.
Choose the color or wavelength by contrast, not by brightness. White is the general-purpose choice; red, green, blue, and amber are used to suppress or enhance specific surface features; UV at 365, 385, and 405 nm is used for fluorescence inspection; and NIR at 860 and 950 nm penetrates some materials that are opaque in the visible range. See our application guides on UV LEDs for fluorescence inspection and NIR LEDs for automated optical inspection.
Decide how the light will be controlled. Constant-illuminance models hold a fixed output and need no host integration. Digital dimming models accept 8-bit, 10-bit, or 12-bit commands. The SPX-TA200 is dimmed over a direct LAN connection, and the optional CB-ZERO control box adds manual panel dimming, 0-5 V analog dimming, and RS-232C serial control when the inspection system expects one of those interfaces.
Check uniformity and response together. Longitudinal uniformity determines how much shading correction the vision software has to apply, and the switching response determines whether the light can be strobed in step with the camera. Pulse-capable models can be synchronized to each scan line, which is what makes it possible to capture transmitted and reflected images within a single pass.
Do not forget the power supply and the cable. The dedicated power supply is selected by light-emitting length, and the cable length is part of the model number. Pulsed operation limits the maximum cable run, so the distance between the control cabinet and the light has to be settled before the quote is finalized.
Typical applications
Line-scan defect inspection of film, glass, color filters, TFT panels, semiconductor wafers, and OLED substrates; web inspection of functional films, nonwoven materials, paper, and foil; print and label inspection; fluorescence inspection of coatings and adhesives with the UV models; near-infrared inspection of materials that are opaque in the visible range; and cleanroom installations where cooling fans cannot be used.

Pricing and lead time
All products are quoted individually, because pricing depends on the light-emitting length, LED color, light distribution, power supply, cable length, and options. These illuminators are built to order, so lead time depends on the configuration and on component availability, and we confirm it with every quote. Use the Request a Quote form on any product page, submit the Custom Order Form for non-standard requirements, or email sales@terapowerled.com.
These products are purchased in the United States from TeraPower LED. You order from and are invoiced by a U.S. company in Torrance, California, and we handle export, import, customs clearance, and delivery to your site, so there is no need to order from Japan or import the devices yourself.
