We supply the REVOX SLG series of fiber optic illuminators to manufacturers, system integrators, universities, and research institutions across the United States. Orders are shipped either direct from REVOX in Kanagawa, Japan, or through our Torrance, California office, and we confirm the shipping route and lead time with every quote.

An SLG is a light source unit that couples its output into a light guide, so the illuminated shape is determined by the fiber assembly rather than by the housing. That makes the same unit usable for spot, ring, line, and backlight geometries. If you need bare emitters instead of a complete light source, see our COB LED emitters and SMD LED emitters.

Detailed specifications for each model are confirmed at the time of quotation. Custom configurations are also available on request.

Choosing between the SLG models

Maximum output and xenon replacement. If the application is currently lit by a flash lamp, or if the exposure time is so short that nothing else is bright enough, the SLG-600V2 is the starting point. It combines the highest output in the series with fast switching, which is the combination a flash replacement requires.

Mixed-color and color-critical work. The SLG-450TSL drives red, green, and blue lamps in one unit, so the color point can be tuned to the sample instead of relying on a white source and filters. A color-lock function holds the mixed color once it has been set, which matters when the inspection threshold is based on hue rather than intensity.

Ultraviolet and fluorescence. The SLG-150V-UV covers 365, 385, and 405 nm, the three bands most commonly used to excite fluorescence in coatings, adhesives, resins, and biological samples. Our application guide on UV LEDs for fluorescence inspection explains how to choose among the three and how to pair them with emission filters.

Near-infrared penetration. The SLG-150V-NIR is used where the feature of interest is below a surface that is opaque in the visible range. See NIR LEDs for automated optical inspection for how NIR illumination changes contrast, and note that silicon sensors lose sensitivity above roughly 1,100 nm.

Strobe and high-speed capture. The SLG-150HSP2 and SLG-150HSP3 are built for pulsed operation, for freezing motion on a moving line or for capturing several differently lit images in rapid succession. The HSP3 adds red, green, and blue to the white output of the HSP2.

Metal halide replacement. The SLG-150V, SLG-165V, and their -X variants are the direct answer to an existing discharge-lamp installation: LED output with instant on/off, no warm-up drift, no lamp replacement interval, and optical feedback to hold the output steady as the device ages.

Specifying the light guide

The illuminator is only half of the system. The light guide determines the illuminated shape, the numerical aperture, and how much of the source output actually reaches the sample, so it has to be selected together with the unit. Tell us the geometry you need - spot, ring, line, or backlight - along with the working distance and the fiber assembly you already use, and we will confirm the combination before quoting.

Typical applications

Automated optical inspection and machine vision, fine-defect and scratch inspection on machined and coated surfaces, fluorescence inspection of adhesives and coatings, internal and subsurface inspection with near-infrared light, high-speed strobe imaging on moving lines, microscopy and laboratory illumination, and replacement of discharge-lamp and flash-lamp light sources.

Pricing and lead time

All products are quoted individually, because pricing depends on the model, LED color, control interface, and accessories. These light sources are built to order, so lead time depends on the configuration and on component availability, and we confirm it with every quote. Use the Request a Quote form on any product page, submit the Custom Order Form for non-standard requirements, or email sales@terapowerled.com.

These products are purchased in the United States from TeraPower LED. You order from and are invoiced by a U.S. company in Torrance, California, and we handle export, import, customs clearance, and delivery to your site, so there is no need to order from Japan or import the devices yourself.
